MY WEDDING DRESSES

Wedding Dress Inspiration from the Big Screen

Sex and the City Wedding Dress When a movie script includes a wedding scene, Hollywood often calls on the big name wedding dress designers to create custom confections to make us swoon. Here are some recent beauties from the big screen to inspire you on your wedding dress search.

Sex and the City

This avant garde Vivienne Westwood wedding dress is not an easy one to pull off, with the exaggerated neckline and full skirt, but as Carrie Bradshaw in the Sex and the City movie, Sarah Jessica Parker is stunning!

Bride Wars

Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway’s characters opt for two totally different, but equally stunning, Vera Wang wedding dresses in Bride Wars. Anne’s dress is timeless elegance at it’s best, with the off the shoulder neckline and fit and flare style, while Kate’s is princess perfection with the tulle ballgown skirt, cathedral length veil and lavender ribbon sash.

Twilight

Twi-hards went crazy for Bella Swan’s Carolina Herrera wedding dress, worn for her wedding to vampire Edward. The column gown featured long sleeves, an illusion back with lace accents and a row of tiny buttons all the way down the back.

The Vow

Rachel McAdams showed off her unique style in The Vow with a short, blush wedding dress with organza flower embellishment designed by Betsey Johnson. We love the look if you can get past the cupcake veil!

Legally Blonde 2

Reese Witherspoon’s iconic character Elle Woods tied the knot in Legally Blonde 2 this simple blush Reem Acra gown. I love the ruching at the waist and flowing skirt.

Ghosts of Girlfriends Past

While this movie may not have been the most memorable, Jennifer Garner’s Manual Mota gown is! From the delicate lace, strapless neckline and drop waist, the look is classic and beautiful.
What are some of your favorite wedding dresses from the movies?

Modern Wedding Dress – Romona Keveza Couture

Romona Keveza Modern Wedding Dress If you are a bride looking for a modern, chic wedding dress look no further than this Romona Keveza Couture dress (style RK273). The dramatic train adds fullness, but because of the way it extends only from the waist, the dress maintains that sleek column style from the front. The one shoulder neckline is on trend and adds to the modern feel. This is a dress for a bride who wants the aisle to be her own personal “red carpet” moment.
I would style with a high ballerina bun, accented with a deco crystal hair pin and deco chandelier earrings.

Lesser Known Wedding Dress Designers

Bhldn Wedding Dresses Vera, Monique, Oscar…We are all familiar with these famous designers and their beautiful gowns. But just because they aren’t a household name doesn’t mean that lesser known designers don’t make stunning wedding dresses. Here are some of the newer names in bridal fashion that we just HAD to share.
Ivy & Aster
Ivy & Aster make fun, contemporary wedding dresses for modern brides that want to look sophisticated and not break the bank. These dresses range from $1000 – $3000 and come in a variety of styles. They also have a great selection of little white dresses that would make great after party or rehearsal dinner dresses.

Sass Dress
57 Grand
This modern weddingwear is inspired by New York City and has the names to match, with styles named after famed New York landmarks like Chelsea and Radio City. They have a sleek, urban feel and gorgeous cuts and draping.
Trinity Dress
Ellis Dress
This dress screams City Hall at me!
Bhldn
Anthropologie’s new bridal spin-off Bhldn has only been around a few months, but is already making fans of the vintage and rustic chic looks swoon. We love that they tap a number of unknown designers like Catherine Deane and James Coviello for their exclusive designs. They also have fab accessories (hello, glitter heels anyone?) and cute bridesmaids dresses that your friends may actually wear again.

Elysium Gown
Saja

Blush Pink

Blush is probably the most wearable hue when it comes to colored wedding dresses. It is incredibly romantic and still has a bridal feel to it.

Dove Gray

You may think that gray portrays a somber tone, but the shade imbues these wedding dresses with a modern sophistication.
